With 5,398 trade visitors from 55 countries (2020: 48), that being 27.7 percent more than at the previous exhibition (2020: 4,227), the seventh edition of the Perimeter Protection Exhibition, which was more successful than ever, came to a close on Thursday, 19 January 2023. Visitors obtained information about the latest mechanical, electrical and electronic solutions for perimeter protection and building security from 198 exhibitors (2020: 166) from 22 countries occupying a gross area of roughly 15,000 m². Especially gratifying, besides the overall exhibitor growth of 23 percent, was the increase in the share of international exhibitors to a full 50 percent, so that that foreign companies were equally well represented as German companies. Again this year, the Trade Forum held in the midst of the exhibition was very well received. This is where renowned industry experts shared valuable tips and lessons in numerous presentations given on all three days of the exhibition. For the first time ever, this year’s exhibition featured the Special Exhibition Area U.T.SEC@Perimeter Protection. Exhibitors were especially appreciative of the high-quality conversations held with trade visitors, with more than 94 percent of them expecting post-exhibition business to result from the contacts made there.
“The interest in Perimeter Protection is greater than ever. The numbers for this year’s event confirm the trend of continuous growth. Thus, this year’s exhibition represents another chapter in the success story of Perimeter Protection, reaffirming its status as the most important meeting place for the security industry in Europe”, said Frank Venjakob, Director Exhibition Perimeter Protection at NürnbergMesse. “We are very pleased with this year’s thoroughly successful restart of Perimeter Protection, which has since attained a unique status among security trade fairs also internationally, given that 50 percent of exhibitors and nearly 30 percent of visitors hailed from countries besides Germany”, Venjakob said further.
Kai-Uwe Grögor, Managing Director of the metal fence technology association Gütegemeinschaft Metallzauntechnik e.V., the honorary sponsor of Perimeter Protection, added: “The exhibitors and visitors representing the fencing industry have praised the lively atmosphere of the exhibition. It is plain to see that face-to-face interactions between manufacturers, dealers, and fence builders have been sorely missed in the three years since the last Perimeter Protection Exhibition. It was therefore highly gratifying to see how successful the restart of Perimeter Protection was after the coronavirus pandemic. It shows that this event has become established as an indispensable meeting place for the industry.”
Visitors were impressed with the top-quality design
Whereas the last exhibition in 2020 was held under normal conditions, the next regular edition of Perimeter Protection scheduled for 2022 had to be postponed to this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Despite the continuation of the pandemic, the repercussions of the war in Ukraine, and the current energy crisis, the exhibition held in the last days was a complete success for exhibitors and visitors alike. At this year’s event, 198 exhibitors, including 99 from countries besides Germany (2020: 78), presented their expertise and their products and services in the field of perimeter protection, fencing and building security to 5,398 interested exhibition and forum visitors. Exhibitors and visitors alike particularly praised the enhanced optical quality of the stands and the top-quality business contacts made with prospective new customers. The heightened quality of the overall event and the considerable number of new contacts were highly appreciated. Among the many highlights was the free-admission Trade Forum, which was integrated into the exhibition for the second time this year. The security technology association Verband für Sicherheitstechnik (VfS) organized the topics and speakers for the Trade Forum. Trade visitors were just as impressed with the many presentations as with the product displays. The top-quality content design was highly praised by visitors and exhibitors alike. Wilfried Joswig, Managing Director of VfS, expressed his satisfaction as follows: “Again this year, the Trade Forum perfectly captured the spirit of the times and the interest of participants. The diverse topics of the presentations given by speakers from a wide range of fields met with great interest and stimulated intensive knowledge transfers. For some presentations, audience members were even willing to stand instead of sit, despite the fact that this year’s Trade Forum was bigger than in 2020. Joyful anticipation for the next Perimeter Protection could be sensed everywhere.”
Sharper focus on drone detection and defence in the Special Exhibition Area
Exhibition visitors were likewise impressed by the Special Exhibition Area U.T.SEC@Perimeter Protection, with 12 exhibitors. The presentation topics were planned by the Unmanned Aviation Association UAV DACH e.V., Berlin, Official Partner of the Perimeter Protection Partner Exhibition. This Special Exhibition Area was the world’s first-ever platform addressing the future of unmanned technologies. It was the perfect complement to the existing area of drone detection and defence.
Unique status creates strong growth potential
“No other trade fair covers the combination of fence, gate and security technology as extensively as Perimeter Protection. The trade fair was truly well received, once again proving its above-average potential for this exciting industry”, said Thomas Preutenborbeck, Managing Board member and Head of Perimeter Protection. The growth trend was confirmed by feedback from this year’s exhibitors: Due to the unexpected flood of visitors, some companies would have needed larger stands to better serve the huge crowds in attendance.
