More than 5,000 trade visitors attended the eighth Perimeter Protection, which ended on Thursday afternoon. Around 220 exhibitors from almost 30 countries showcased their products for mechanical, electrical and electronic protection measures for outdoor areas and building protection on more than 15,000 square metres of gross exhibition space.

The increasing internationality that can already be seen among the exhibitors is also evident among the trade visitors: almost 35 percent of visitors travelled from abroad, from more than 50 countries.

„We are delighted that a particularly large number of international visitors attended Perimeter Protection this year, with an increase of around 10 percent,“ says Julia Urban, Manager of Perimeter Protection.

The newly established Career Zone in Hall 2 was particularly popular, offering young professionals and interested career changers a place to exchange ideas and network. Here, job seekers and companies were able to connect with each other, post job vacancies and find new career paths. The Career Zone is an important tool for counteracting the prevailing shortage of skilled labour in the industry.

Unique position inspires trade visitors

„Perimeter Protection 2025 was once again a successful event for manufacturers and companies in the metal fencing technology sector,“ explains Kai-Uwe Grögor, Managing Director of Gütegemeinschaft Metallzauntechnik e. V., the honorary sponsor of Perimeter Protection. „The trade fair is so important for us because it brings together the mechanical and electrical components of perimeter protection,“ he continues, emphasising the uniqueness of Perimeter Protection.

Thomas Preutenborbeck, Member of the Management Board, also emphasises the high level of specialisation in his summary: „No other trade fair covers the combination of fence, gate and security technology as extensively as Perimeter Protection. The trade fair was truly well received, once again proving its above-average potential for this exciting industry.“

Full halls and high-quality discussions

„Compared to the last trade fair, we noticed an increase in the number of visitors to our stand,“ reports Ulrich Dörr from the Verband für Sicherheitstechnik. e. V. „The halls were always full and the discussions with trade visitors were of a very high quality throughout. Visitor interest was also evident at the specialist forum, which we helped to organise: The presentations were very well attended on all three days – in some cases the crowds were so large that there wasn't even enough seating,“ says Dörr.

The specialist forum is organised in cooperation with the Verband für Sicherheitstechnik e.V. and UAV DACH e.V.

CRITIS umbrella law in the specialist forum

The legal documentation of the physical protection of CRITIS objects was on everyone's lips at the trade fair. Gerd Friedsam from the Verband für Sicherheitstechnik e. V. gave an insight into practice with his presentation ‘When crises don't stop at the fence’ and emphasised that more than 1,000 companies from numerous sectors are affected by the legal changes as part of the CRITIS umbrella law.

The managing directors of the Verband für Sicherheitstechnik e. V. – Wilfried Joswig and Prof. Dr Clemens Gause – provide further insights into the topic in an interview: „The CRITIS umbrella law requires physical security for CRITIS objects. This was not previously required. However, physical security is of fundamental importance for the resilience of these properties and therefore for our society. The law regulates, among other things, the sectors, industries and critical services to which this law applies. It also stipulates that the operator is responsible for self-assessment, identification and implementation of the necessary measures.“

Kai-Uwe Grögor also emphasises the importance of the law for the industry: ‘The CRITIS umbrella law poses challenges for metal fencing technology and at the same time offers great opportunities for the future: because the electronic and mechanical sides must be brought together for future-proof solutions in perimeter protection. According to expert Grögor, the protection of critical infrastructures and the CRITIS umbrella law will also be of great importance at the next Perimeter Protection.
