In his presentation, Yan St-Pierre will look at the profiles of perpetrators and their targets and show, using the Magdeburg and New Orleans crossings as examples, that this attack tactic is no longer used exclusively by terrorists, but is part of a growing trend that is changing the threat situation and posing new challenges for access protection and public safety.
About the speaker
Yan St-Pierre, born in Montréal, Canada, has contributed research and analysis on political extremism and terrorism for over twenty years and has extensive field experience in counter-terrorism and security-oriented initiatives, including in Africa, Central Asia and Europe. As managing director and counter-terrorism consultant of MOSECON GmbH, he advises governments, NGOs, research institutes and private companies worldwide on the development of counter-terrorism and sabotage strategies as well as security strategies and policies, including in the area of crossing offences. He is co-author of the VfS handbook ‘Zufahrtsschutz für die Praxis’ and his analyses are regularly used by international media, including the BBC, RFI, France 24, ARD and AFP.
